The soy we use is obtained from suppliers in South America, North America, and Asia. The soy is cultivated in a manner that is not detrimental to the tropical rain forest and it is not genetically modified.
Schouten Europe B.V. is a member of the Round Table on Responsible Soy (RTRS). Round Table on Responsible Soy (RTRS) is an international platform in which soy manufacturers, the soy trade, the processing industry, banks and social organisations work together to develop sustainability criteria for the global soy production and to implement these in practice.
At the general meeting of the RTRS of May 2007, it was agreed to lay down the following verifiable criteria for soy production, in relation to the following social and environmental topics:
Employee rights – Land rights – Respect for small-scale and traditional land utilisation – Well-being of indigenous population – Protection of biodiversity – Water consumption – Soil fertility – Use of pesticides – Impact on the infrastructure.
Through this membership, Schouten Europe B.V. aims to find solutions for sustainable and responsible global soy production.
